Welcome to My Website!

Hi, I’m Boer Chen, a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at Rice University.

My research focuses on exoskeleton-assisted gait rehabilitation, wearable robotics, and human-centered AI for motor learning.

I aim to design intelligent human-robot interaction systems that enhance physical function and reduce injury risk.

Description: This study will determine if socket trim line affects the ability to utilize hip musculature and thus how people with transfemoral amputations respond to destabilizing forces.

Description: The Drone is aimed to help resue team to regain connection after disasters. We developed a people recognition algorithm using Python’s OpenCV for accurate image recognition (90% accuracy) and k-means clustering for color recognition to identify the number of people in the area; Use open-source control for the drone to adjust its flying strategy.

Description: Designed a 4-leg quadruped vehicle and the linkage system that offers mobilities on various types of terrains, with only one motor. Used 3D printing and laser cutter to manufacture the parts of the prototype. Analyzed and adjusted the assembly to pass the straight-line and speed-racing tests.
